The Principle of Intention

The most popular subtle energy exercise known uses the process of mental gender. It is commonly called ‘The Law of Attraction’.  It is a process of INTENTION activated by EMOTION to CREATE a desired outcome. The principle behind its effectiveness is that energy flows in the direction of our attention. We are co-creating our realities within this practice…consciously or unconsciously; positively or negatively.

A balanced mind is like an artist easel; it’s a perfect place to create. This is why meditation or sitting /lying quietly are important practices. Our culture works against balance with the activity behind its economic focus. It subtly teaches that the more we accomplish in that style the greater our success. We fill our schedules to the point that when outside influences such as family needs, friends, or occasional mishaps arise we feel overloaded.  Mothers and caregivers are often the most in need this balance yet feel the guiltiest for taking the needed 'me' time.

When  Rhonda Byrne’s book, “The Secret”, became a best seller it brought this esoteric teaching  into the light. I believe that its information helped lift the consciousness of the planet but the majority needed more. Within its pages are the steps to her journey including the need for self-acceptance and balance. Its simplicity gave hope yet, I feel more insight is needed on how to feel better about ourselves. That is the real journey since the intention we put into our actions can have a massive impact on our own inner balance.

Over 20 years ago I learned to consciously work with this mental process.  After reading the guidance of Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, I was in qualification to win a car. The emotional catalyst applied to my desire for the car was not one of achievement but that of FREEDOM. I had relocated to Florida from Missouri to assist in the care of my widowed grandmother. I was living in her home, sleeping on the sofa and trying to financially support myself without personal transportation. I will always be thankful for my decision to help her. It placed me within contact of a circle of supportive women. We did not share problems as much as we would share ideas on time and life management.

Achieving the car required a 4 month qualification. I was positive, staying busy and time passed quickly until the final month. Everything began to change and I could feel that all I was building had begun  falling apart. I became sick, the house was filled with visitors, even the weather would not co-operate.  I called a mentor and sobbed my predicament. Her response was for me to get on my knees and thank God for all that was happening… even if I did not feel thankful. Say the words. Fear, anger and agitation contract our hearts energy, whereas gratitude is an expansive energy and opens our hearts to receiving.

Energy is always in motion and it travels in a circular pattern. Our thoughts and emotions are also energy and are carried in this circle, all the while attracting more of the same before returning to us. My wonderful mentor explained that even when we feel that circumstances are out of our control if we stop, take a breath, and create a quiet place that will allow a change our attitude everything else begins to change.

This is the reason we bless food, forgive others, and give to those in need. It is not to make us good people but to help us be happy, healthy people. But I’ll go into all of that in some of the next writings.

Step Into The Future

Do you find yourself feeling fatigued? I don’t mean the good sense of exhaustion that comes from completing a big project.  I’m speaking of days upon days when you dread seeing the light of morning and don’t even want to get up. Most of my clients that have voiced that complaint were invariably trying to drag something from yesterday into today. Regrets or mistakes are anchors formed from misconceptions. In actuality, there are no mistakes; there are only consequences. Yet, if we view the results of our decisions as punishments, they become a burden that can drag anyone down. If you want to break free, you need to have a new focus, a goal.

I was told that sleep comes as an interruption when you have a passion or desire. Over the years, I have found this statement to be true. Once the decision is made to achieve something and we start the affirming process, eagerness grows. Its heightened vibration dispels feelings of negativity, strengthening resolve to see desires manifest. The more excited and resolute we become the faster things happen.

Creating vision boards, posters, or placing tokens as physical reminders helps keep the mental focus. Stating affirmations each morning, evening, and when you find yourself stuck in a mental dead zone such as a red lights, traffic jam, a doctors waiting room, or a  cashier’s line, lets you turn negatives into positives.  You may not be able to stay free of those zones but you can turn them into opportunities for positive re-enforcement of your hearts desires.
An important tool for manifesting that I had forgotten over the years is the habit of projecting ten years into the future and seeing your desire already achieved. Where and how will you be living? What will you be wearing? What will your life be like? Creating this kind of mental imagery makes you the star and director of your own personal mental movie. Write your own script. Watch your movie as you awaken each morning and again at night. Let it be your chosen dream as you close your eyes.  Viewing your movie often makes it grow stronger and closer to your reality. Your subconscious mind does not make judgments; it just accepts everything it sees as real.  So feed it what you want.

If you want to understand the idea of no mistakes more clearly pick up the movie:Evening.    Post a question or comment for me...or visit me on Face Book.  I’ll respond.

It’s All In Your Mind

How many times has someone tried to put you off by saying “It’s all in your mind.”  All they are saying there is no scientific support for your expressed beliefs. However, the scientific world is often frail or corrupted whereas the things that occur having no apparent hardcore reasoning offer beauty to life. These occurrences are generally called miracles. A few examples are healing, prayer, manifesting and those times coincidences bring a sense of awe. Even though the title phrase is most often used to degrade, it is actually correct. All reality is created in the mind.

Eyes only pick up light and image; they make no assessment, only gather data. Your ears, nose taste and other senses also contribute data to the brain. The mind then takes the input collected from the senses and begins to apply information and emotion. These evaluations or perceptions can be in the form of negative judgments, positive reinforcements, or hidden from recall altogether.

This is why a police officer asks for 3-5 witnesses at a traffic accident.  The eyes of each witness see the same event but their owners individual perceptions are formed from the applied information from their unique experiences. One may swear they saw a beer can fall from the car, because their aunt died in an accident involving a drunk driver. Another witness may not have noticed the driver’s car over the white pedestrian walk line since it is one of his own habits. The mind might choose denial over the pain of realization. Understanding how powerful the mind is in creating our realities offers a tool that can be used to our benefit.

One day while peeling vegetables the paring knife I was using slipped and the blade cut my finger. It wasn’t a deep cut but it was bleeding a lot. I covered the cut with the first kitchen towel I could reach.  With the bleeding out of site, the more attention I gave the event the more painful was the throbbing. In the past, this is where the self-berating would begin, but I remembered a technique learned and practiced while exploring a lava tube cave in Hawaii. I had been crawling along a ledge in the dark, then stood up in a low ceiling area. The impact actually made me see stars.

My kupuna (teacher) was with me. She shared a mind technique used by ancient Hawaiians to reverse an unpleasant event. It is to repeat the incident physically or by memory 3-5 times, but always ending the mental image of a positive outcome. I applied this teaching to the kitchen accident. First, I quieted my mind. Then I began a mental review of peeling the vegetables. As I reached the point of the accident, I took control of the image and saw it ending with the knife finishing its cut on the carrot instead of my finger.  The pain and bleeding were gone by the end of five repetitions. Severe physical injuries may need the attention of a medical professional, but for this small cut the technique worked wonders. I covered the cut with piece of onionskin and within a day, it was healed.

Physical wounds are not our only unpleasant experiences. The most important part is to change  what your mind sees from negative to positive. Many wise people use the saying  “All change   begins from within.” I am saying the mind is the fertile soil to plant those seeds of change.
